Since the introduction of the national ‘lockdown’ by the Government, the number of people attending Bracknell Urgent Care Centre for minor illness or injury care has decreased by 75% compared to activity in the preceding months.

The Frimley Collaborative will temporarily suspend service provision of minor illness and minor injury at Bracknell Urgent Care Centre, at the end of the day on Friday 1 May. We believe that the temporary suspension of this service will allow us to make the best use of NHS resources and reallocate the expert clinicians and other resources currently in place there to critical points of care locally. The service will remain suspended until the pressures caused by the current Covid-19 pandemic have ceased.

Patients requiring minor illness care will be signposted to NHS 111 online or to their registered GP practice and local primary care services either by phone or using online consultations.

All GP surgeries are offering alternatives to visiting surgeries in person, so we are asking that patients do not go to their practice unless they have a face-to-face appointment with a GP or nurse confirmed. Please visit the practice website for further information.

Patients requiring minor injury care will access their local Emergency Department – for most patients this will be Wexham Park Hospital or Frimley Park Hospital, although patients from Berkshire West may choose to access Royal Berkshire Hospital.

A number of RBFT services will remain open on the Brants Bridge site.

This temporary change will ensure that patients continue to be able to access timely same day care for minor illness and minor injury while providing the NHS with the most resilience.
