Surgery news and update September 2024

The surgery will be closed for staff training on 12th September from 13:00. During this time, cover will be provided by 111.

Road Closures

As we are sure you are all aware, the road works at California Crossroads are ongoing. Please allow extra time when coming for an appointment at the surgery.

Did Not Attend

145 patients did not attend their appointment at the surgery in August 2024. If you cannot attend, please cancel your appointment. This will ensure we can offer the appointment to someone else and reduce your waiting times.

RSV Vaccination

From September, we will start to invite patients aged 75 to 79 and pregnant women to receive the RSV vaccine (Respiratory Syncytial Virus). RSV is an infectious disease of the airways and lungs. A single dose will help protect you as you reach an age group at highest risk of serious infection. You do not need this vaccine every year.

Flu and COVID Vaccines

We will be holding clinics at the surgery for all eligible patients. The guidance from the government is to administer the vaccine after 3rd October, and we will be sending invitations via text.

Child Flu

We will also be offering the childhood nasal flu vaccine to 2–4 year olds as soon as we have a delivery date. Please do not contact the surgery; we will send out invitations to attend.

Travel Vaccines

We are not a registered travel clinic. Due to high demand in General Practice, we are prioritising patients needing chronic disease management and have limited appointments. Due to administering the RSV, COVID, and flu vaccines, we have paused all travel vaccinations. Please contact a MASTA clinic for help, advice, and vaccinations.
