Surgery news and update February 2024

The surgery will be closed on the afternoon of Tuesday 5th March for staff training. Westcall are covering and you should call 111.

Road Closures

As we are sure you are all aware the road works at California Crossroads start this month. Please allow extra time when coming for an appointment at the surgery.

Surgery Car Park

We are unable to expand our car park due to planning restrictions. If you are able to please can you walk to your appointment or to the pharmacy to collect your medication. We are arranging for the pot-holes to be filled, but the weather needs to improve for this to be successful. We have asked the school to advise parents not to use our car park for school pick up and drop offs.

Shingles Vaccination

A shingles vaccination is available to everyone between the ages of 70 – 79. Patients who turn 65 on or after 01.09.2023 will now be eligible for this vaccine. If you were 65 before this date you will not be eligible until you are 70. (People who were 65 before 01.09.2023 – and aged 66-69 are currently not eligible) If you have not had this vaccine, please can you phone the surgery to book this with a nurse. More information on the vaccine can be found at www.nhs.uk/conditions/vaccinations/shingles-vaccination

Mental Health Practitioner

Debbie Dew works as a Mental Health Practitioner and will be working from Finchampstead Surgery 2-3 days a week. If you would like to speak to Debbie about any mental health issues or concerns, please phone the surgery and our receptionists can book you either a face to face or telephone appointment with her.

Travel Vaccines

We are not a registered travel clinic. Due to the demand in General Practice, we are prioritising our patients needing chronic disease management and have limited appointments and we have reached our capacity for February and March for travel vaccinations. Please contact a MASTA clinic for help, advice and vaccinations.
